100% Pure Bacon Burger And More

bacon burger

It makes me glad that someone made this happen, partially because it makes me feel like I don’t have to. I’ve been to the state fair and had my food choices questioned by some: deep fried twinkies, deep fried oreos, deep fried snickers bars. Next to the 100% Bacon Burger though, that is all child’s play. Want to kick it up a notch? How about the deep fried 100% bacon burger stuffed with mozarella? I feel like I could get a heart attack just writing about it, but in a good way.

The Proposition

The Mrs. and I watched a movie by that name the other night. I don’t recommend it. It got all these great reviews, but I can’t see why. How can I go wrong with a western set in Australia? I aksed myself. “The Proposition” was my answer.

This proposition is way better though, and if I had a Playstation 3 I would agree in a heartbeat. Taco Bell is offering $12,000 in Taco Bell Bucks to the first person willing to give up their new PS3 to the Boys and Girls Club. As the article points out, this is enough Taco Bell Bucks to get a taco every day for the next 54 years. I’m not sure how long it would last me though. My favorite food is tacos.

It is probably for the best that I don’t have a PS3 to trade in. I don’t remember learning any rhymes about health that started with “A taco a day”. If there was a saying like that it would probably end with “means you’ll need a bidet” or some other reference to the digestive process.

Starbucks Capital Of America, sort of

It’s a surprise to me, but it turns out that I live in a city with one of the best Starbucks-to-people ratios in the Nation. According to epodunk.com, Falls Church, VA has 7.7 Starbucks locations per 10,000 people in the population. We usually just go to one Starbucks, but it’s comforting to know that we’re surrounded by them. (or is it…)

I think I’ve been to the one that counts as the .7 though. The one that I’m thinking of keeps track of orders by way of finger counting rather than by cash register and it seems they make their “coffee” from a different kind of “bean”. The last time I went there and handed the clerk my Starbucks card, he slid it between his fingers and made a “boop” sound with his mouth. I’m in no place to complain though, Lynnwood, Washington has 3.2 Starbucks per 10,000 people. I don’t want to know how they make their coffee at a .2 Starbucks.

Ben & Jerry’s Black & Tan

I like beer, I like ice cream. Beer flavored ice cream? Alrighty.

I’d like to think that I somehow felt the void that existed in the world before Ben & Jerry created this flavor. Much like Obi-Wan Kenobi felt a disturbance in the force upon the destruction of the planet Alderaan in Star Wars Episode IV. But now things are just a little bit nicer.

I tried this flavor tonight and found it delightful. Once I removed the cap I noticed that this precocious little pint had a creamy head just like a fine pint of stout beer. Underneath I found delicous stout flavored ice cream dancing about happily with chocolate. I would have eaten the whole pint but luckily Anna was on the couch next to me and cut me off after a quarter of the pint was finished.

I recommend having a partner sit with you as you eat it as well. Eating the whole pint in one sitting would mean that when you go to the freezer tomorrow, all you’ll be able to taste is your own frozen tears.

On a scale of zero to Ben & Jerry, I give this flavor 3/4ths Ben and 7/8ths Jerry.

Well done boys. Well done.

Cooking With Peeps

Who hasn’t tried to experiment with Peeps in the kitchen? Most of the times I have tried it, something went wrong. Every so often I’ll have success with a Peeps lasagna or Peeps and eggs, but usually I end up messing things up. This site makes it all clear though. From harvesting ripe Peeps to cooking with them, and even to dessert, it takes the guesswork out of cooking with these soft little treats. So if you have too many peeps this Easter season, you could always have some Peeps jousting, but I plan on giving these recipes a try.
